Among the lush landscapes of the Atlantic Forest is the Caminho da Costa da Lagoa, a historical and natural heritage site located on the banks of the Lagoa da Conceiço in Florianópolis. The trail, dotted with traces of old buildings and flanked by iconic Garapuvu trees, is undergoing a redevelopment process.

The work, carried out under the supervision of the municipal department of transport and infrastructure, not only improves safety, but also highlights the rich cultural heritage and biodiversity of the region, making it even more attractive to residents and visitors.

The trail allows you to take a peaceful walk in the middle of the forest while enjoying the beauty of Lagoa da Conceiço. The path is long, but the terrain is calm and the walk is pleasant. And if you get tired, you can still return by boat.

The Caminho da Costa da Lagoa, which is approximately nine kilometers long and runs from Canto dos Arasas to Praia do Saquinho, is located in an ALP (legally protected area) and is listed as a historical heritage site of the municipality. In addition, part of this route is part of the Municipal Wildlife Reserve of Mayempipe, the largest UC (reserve) in Florianópolis, created in 2021.

In an effort to improve this cultural and environmental heritage, the mayor’s office has formed a technical committee, comprising the Department of Transport and Infrastructure, Sepham (Municipal Department of Planning and Urban Intelligence) and Floram (Municipal Environmental Fund), to monitor the progress of the work. . Coordination meetings and regular site visits are part of this work.

Sidewalks and new sidewalk

The revitalization of the Caminho da Costa da Lagoa began in the city’s Centrinho da Costa da Lagoa district on September 25th. The first phase includes demolition of the damaged concrete floor followed by the installation of sidewalks and new surfaces, as well as the installation of curbs, guardrails and handrails.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Raphael Hane stresses that in addition to maintaining the trail, the goal is to make it safer and protect the space from rain erosion and damage caused by visitors.

“The revitalization work of the Caminho da Costa da Lagoa is an important step in promoting safer tourism as well as comfort for local residents. This trail has been severely damaged due to rain erosion and high volumes of visitors, so this part of our city deserves attention and care. Through these works, we are creating the ideal conditions for everyone to enjoy this experience with greater safety and comfort, strengthening tourism and contributing to the well-being of society,” he states.

Improvements in every way

In general, work on the Trail includes organizing the land, organizing stone entrances, constructing stairs (they can be stone, concrete or wooden rollers fixed to the ground), bridges, ramps with handrails on steep slopes, as well as identifying historical heritage.

Two viewing platforms for contemplation will also be built – one at the Costa Falls and the other on the cracked stone of the path between Ratones and Costa da Lagoa – and a portal will be installed to identify sites and signposts for better guidance and environmental education. to avoid the risk of users getting lost in the woods or on private land in the area.

The revitalization of Caminho da Costa da Lagoa is being carried out by DJFP Construções Ltda – EPP. The work must be completed within one year and requires an investment of R$ 2,834,700.99.

Further work continues at Lagoa da Conceição.

In addition to these improvements to Caminho da Costa da Lagoa, Lagoa da Conceição is currently undergoing an extensive investment program totaling approximately R$65 million.

The package includes the reconstruction of João Pacheco da Costa and Rita Lourenço da Silveira streets in Ponta do Pitocão, the construction of a new bridge and significant improvements to the surrounding area, as well as the implementation of the Lagoa da Conceição binary project.

Regarding the works planned on Mandala Street, in the area between Avenida das Rendeiras and the new tiled road, the Municipal Department of Transport and Infrastructure is replacing the pavement with paving stones so that the area is standardized to the new one.

Secretary of State Raphael Hane emphasizes that this work ensures a safer journey for visitors and comfort for residents of the capital, strengthening and contributing to the well-being of society.
