A 26-year-old man was arrested for carrying and attempting to sell a restricted firearm late Saturday (14) in the Avenida Governador Celso Ramos, Centro de Porto Belo, north coast of Santa Catarina.
According to military police, the man was driving a Honda/Civic LXS, which was allegedly used to hijack trucks in Balneario Camboriu. The approach took place near the Porto Belo parish church.
The man allegedly bought the gun for R$15,000 and was planning to sell it for R$19,000.
The Prime Minister also said that initially nothing illegal was found on the man, but a suitcase for storing and transporting firearms was found in the car.
According to the suspect’s report, the 9mm rifle was purchased three days ago in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná state, for R$15,000. He told agents that he had resold the weapon to another man from Bombinhas for R$19,000.
However, according to the prime minister, the deal was not closed because the intended buyer considered it too expensive. So the suspect took the Civic to Itapema to try to sell it to someone else.
Upon inspection of the suitcase, the team discovered a Taurus carbine with a 9mm AR platform and three Glock magazines loaded with 30 9mm CBC rounds each. Another 2,500 reais in cash was in the car console.
Police said the gun was accompanied by a gun bill of lading, ammunition and registration papers in the name of another man, and they could not be linked to the case. The man was arrested and taken to the Itapema Civil Police Station.
