After a 16-day fight for her life, Natasha Maria Silva Gonçalves de Albuquerque, 30, a victim of torture and 98% of her body burned by her ex-brother-in-law, died early Sunday morning (8), Rio de Janeiro, January.
Natasha’s body was buried at the Jardim da Saudade cemetery in Paciencia on Tuesday afternoon (10).
The woman has been hospitalized at the Pedro II Hospital in serious condition since September 22, when she suffered burns to her body during a fire set by the suspect.
Burnt body and beating with a hammer
The incident occurred in Senator Camara, west of Rio, when she was taking her niece to visit her father Davi Souza Miranda. According to information, the child was taken by the aunt because the courts did not allow the suspect to approach the girl’s mother due to a protective measure.
A nightmare unfolded at the scene as Natasha was tied up and tortured with a hammer by her attacker, who also attacked the two children accompanying her: Louise, 5, the suspect’s own daughter, and her cousin, Ana Beatriz, 4. years old, daughter of Natasha.
After the attack, the attacker set fire to the house and forced the eldest daughter to flee with him. Despite the injury, Natasha managed to turn to neighbors for help, and she was rushed to the hospital.
Coldness and imbalance
During the custody hearing, it was revealed that Davi said he would kill his ex-daughter-in-law and his own daughter with sledgehammers to “show his ex-partner what it was like to be without a child.” . He would not be happy that his ex-partner reported the crimes he committed against her.
The suspect was detained the day after the crime in the north of the city, in the Tijuca area, by agents of the Civil Police and the Real Security Program.
According to the IML (Institute of Legal Medicine), two girls died as a result of head injuries. One of the children was found with her body burned and her legs stuck under the bed.
“The guard’s cold-bloodedness and emotional instability, emphasized by the dynamics of the facts themselves, are a factor that may contribute to the fact that witnesses will be embarrassed to testify. […] It should be noted that the main witness on the facts is the other daughter of the detained person, who is only 13 years old, and it should be noted that the minor reports the fear that she experiences in front of her father precisely because of his uncompensated behavior.” , notes Judge Rachel Assad da Cunha
