This Tuesday (10), the town hall of Isara, in the south of Santa Catarina, began work to repair the damage caused by the heavy rains last weekend.
Civil Defense and the Planning Secretariat went to the worst-affected areas to restrict vehicle movement on closed roads and highways.
The bridge on Rua Verreador Joao Dolvino Vieira in the Teresa Cristina area has been repaired, traffic in the village of Vila Alvorada, which was partially blocked, has been normalized, the same applies to Rodovia dos Trihos in the Esperanza area.
“Slowly we are restoring all routes. The general road of the Pasqualini line remains very difficult and the water level is high. In addition, we intend to complete the necessary repairs by tomorrow,” said Vitor Dutra, coordinator of the Civil Defense of Ichara.
In addition, schools and kindergartens in the communities of Esplanade, Vila Alvorada, Rio Asima and Linha Pasqualini, where classes were suspended on Monday (9), have returned to normal operations.
Despite the respite, the weather forecast indicates rainfall should resume on Wednesday afternoon (11) and peak between dawn and Thursday afternoon (12). According to Dalvania Cardoso, the mayor of Isara, even despite the forecast, the city is ready to minimize the damage.
“We clean the main rivers and canals that cross the city throughout the year. This preventive work already yielded results last weekend, when the water did not overflow the coastal gutters. At the moment, our main concern is the Esplanade area because of the flow of the Urussanga River, which always brings a large volume of water from municipalities located on the mountain slopes,” he explained.
