A second Brazilian Air Force (FAB) aircraft is already on its way to Israel to rescue Brazilians trapped in the Asian country. It is the second of six planes planned to be used to repatriate Brazilians, including residents of Santa Catarina, wanting to leave Palestine or Israel after the Hamas terrorist group carried out an attack over the weekend.
The KC-30 model aircraft took off at 16:20 this Monday (9) bound for Rome, Italy. From there you will head to Tel Aviv, Israel. The first, an Airbus A330-200 converted into a KC-30 with a capacity of 230 passengers, took off from Brazil on Sunday afternoon (8) and is already in the Italian capital. This first plane is scheduled to fly towards Tel Aviv on Tuesday (10).
Itamaraty estimates that at least 30 Brazilians live in the Gaza Strip and another 60 in Ashkelon and elsewhere in the conflict zone. However, in Israel the total number is much higher.
There, the Brazilian Embassy, until last Sunday (8), had already collected information from approximately 1,000 Brazilians located in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem who had expressed a desire to return to Brazil. Most of them are tourists staying in Israel.
In recent years, the Armed Forces have carried out four repatriation operations by air and land in Turkey, Ukraine, China and Bolivia using five aircraft and 30 vehicles, resulting in the rescue of some 6,600 people, including Brazilians and foreigners.
