This Wednesday morning, Santa Catarina was the subject of 25 search and arrest warrants (4) as part of Operation Abate, carried out by the Civil Police and the State Treasury, as well as the company Deic (Special Directorate of Criminal Investigations), which aims to combat slaughterhouses and secret beef trade. .
The operation was launched by civil police officers and tax auditors from Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso do Sul, Acre and Rio Grande do Sul. 17 search and arrest warrants were executed in Itajaí and two in Balneario Camboriu, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina. Seven orders were carried out in Rio do Sul and one in Lauro Müller.
According to Felipe Naderer, tax auditor for the State Revenue Service, the warrants were executed at slaughterhouses and beef trading establishments in Santa Catarina, companies registered in the name of the Oranges.
“The sale of meat to restaurants, meat shops and other establishments without filing tax documents was also checked. All this will be investigated and quantified, and then sent for forensic examination and tax audit,” Naderer emphasized.
Combating the sale and slaughter of illegal meat
According to investigators, a group of people have been organizing sales without issuing invoices for more than ten years, registering companies in the name of front men, the so-called “oranges,” hiding assets obtained through tax evasion and ideological lies, in addition to organizing the commission of crimes.
The companies owed the community in Santa Catarina more than 37 million reais and continued to deceive audits by delivering goods without invoices and therefore without collecting taxes due to the public treasury, damaging investments in health, education, public safety, infrastructure and organization. the State itself.
In 2012, the group was already the target of Operation Nota Branca, but did not put an end to the illegal procedures related to the tax order.
This operation was called “White Note” after the name that participants used for the parallel control that was used and delivered to the drivers of vehicles transporting goods to make them aware of the actual locations and products to be delivered to the recipients.
The operation launched on this day, also called Operation Abate depending on the type of activity of the companies involved, is the second stage of Operation Nota Branca and involves the discovery that the same procedures continued to be used for sales without the appropriate tax documents. , demonstrating a repeated practice of violations of tax and criminal laws.
