Six dogs were found in a cruel situation on Monday afternoon (2) in Rodeio, in Vale do Itajaí. The rescue operation was carried out by civilian police with the support of the defenders’ group of Sitio Dona Lucia in Blumenau.
According to the corporation, the police station received complaints about the plight of animals sheltered in one of the houses in the city.
Last week, police conducted an investigation at the scene and made some recommendations to animal owners. However, upon return it was discovered that the rules had not been followed and the situation of ill-treatment had worsened.
Cruel treatment
According to civilian police, most of the dogs were found on short chains in the rain, without food or water.
The animals continued to show signs of malnutrition, dehydration, various body injuries and difficulty moving.
The guardian was not at home at the time of the police action and an investigation was launched to establish the facts. The rescued dogs were sent to Sitio Dona Lucia, where they will undergo veterinary treatment and be placed in a temporary shelter.
