A driver carrying 200 kilograms of drugs tried to avoid PRF (Federal Traffic Police) checks and ended up causing an accident on Tuesday morning (3) in Joinville, in the north of Santa Catarina. While trying to escape, the man crashed into two cars on the side of the BR-101.
According to PRF, the vehicle with Criciúma license plates disobeyed agents’ orders to stop and fled at high speed towards the southbound highway. During his escape, he would make several dangerous maneuvers, overtaking on the side of the road and between lanes.
While trying to escape, the driver left the BR-101 and drove onto a country road, after which he soon hit two cars. The accident occurred at km 44 in the Nueva Brasilia area. The driver of one of the cars received minor injuries.
According to PRF, after the man caused the accident, he attempted to flee on foot but was caught by police and handcuffed.
Drugs were found after the accident
Several bales and cubes of marijuana were found in the trunk and back seat of the car, totaling more than 200 kilograms of drugs.
The 28-year-old driver said he would deliver the goods to Joinville. He was arrested and taken to the police station for drug trafficking and driving a vehicle endangering the safety of others.
