The Rio Vermelho area, located in the eastern region, will have the first skate park in the interior of the island. Construction of the facility has already begun in the city of Florianópolis and will feature a skate park for street and park conditions in Plaza Recanto dos Manacas, which is located in an easement of the same name, between Calle Cándido Pereira dos Anjos (main street). Travessan Street) and SC-406 (Rodovia João Gualberto Soares).

According to the municipal Department of Transport and Infrastructure, the necessary excavation work for the construction of the equipment is already underway.

Before work began, the East Island area only had a mini skateboarding rink, intended for sports professionals, at Red Park Plaza on Avenida Red Park. The municipality says that thanks to the new structure, even those who like to skateboard but are considered amateurs will be able to literally “skate” on the concrete of the track, whose street structure, which can also be enjoyed by roller skate users, will be 550 people. sq. m., and the area of ​​the park is 330.30 sq. m. m., while the total area of ​​the park with parking is 6,835.46 sq. m.

The Recanto dos Manacas square itself will also be renovated. The sports and entertainment area will be expanded, which currently features a volleyball court, sand fields, rugby fields and a playground. Around this equipment, explains Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Raphael Hane, there will be a pedestrian path with a total area of ​​550 square meters, which will be shared with bicycles.

The site will also feature a gym, a walking path, and an overpass on Servidão dos Manacas at the entrance to the square, increasing accessibility to the area.

“The City Hall of Florianópolis is working on the improvement of areas in different regions of the city in order to promote the adequate use and use of public spaces,” emphasizes Hane.

Work must be completed within six months

Two companies were hired for the work: La Fonte Engenharia Ltda. – EPP will be responsible for the construction of the skate park, and Premolder Construções Ltda – EPP will be responsible for the revitalization of the area, investing R$ 1,409,554.15. The improvements will take six months.

The revitalization and construction of the new route in Rio Vermelho strengthens the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Ed Pereira, in addition to humanizing and occupying the public spaces of the city, it also encourages sports. “We are working intensively to improve the use of these areas, and skate parks contain spaces that often have little or no use in the daily lives of the population. Trails help develop new athletes, more disciplined and motivated young people, and become spaces for physical activity that promote health and inclusion,” he emphasizes.

In May of this year, Trindade’s new skate park, Trinda Times, also opened, where a stage of the Brazilian Skateboarding Championship was already held in July.

The new skate street, located in Praça Jornalista Gustavo de Lacerda, opposite the Villa Romana shopping center, with a total area of ​​2068.40 square meters, is five times larger than the largest of its kind in the city at the moment, which is located in Beira. -Mar Continental and is less than 400 square meters. The rink also features LED lighting throughout the structure, allowing skaters to practice and use the equipment at night.

Ed Pereira explains that the increase in such facilities in the city responds to the growing demand for skateboarding after the last Olympics in Tokyo in 2021, when Brazilian skateboarders Raissa Leal, Kelvin Hoefler and Pedro Barros won medals. “Skateboarding is an Olympic sport and we cannot miss the opportunity to benefit from national and international media coverage to encourage children to take up the sport. This is the main goal – to encourage and encourage our children here in the municipality so that they have the opportunity to develop in this sport and become competitive athletes,” says the secretary.

More structures and incentives for other sports in the capital.

The mayor’s office also intends to complete construction of the largest skateboard complex in the state by November, with two skating rinks in the Abraan area on the Continent.

In addition, the city plans to open tracks for other sports such as BMX, roller skating and others. “We are investing in this area in the city, in structure, incentives and are already planning many other events and championships. We are giving a new face to municipal sports and are increasingly expanding sports equipment and gyms.
