A chase on Monday evening (25) ended with the arrest of a fugitive for drug trafficking in Garuwa, in the north of Santa Catarina. The case was registered on the highway BR-101.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the driver disobeyed an order to stop and accelerated the vehicle southbound on BR-101, leading to a pursuit. During his escape, he allegedly threw a bag out of the car.
After several kilometers, PRF agents managed to reach the suspect and carry out an approach. After consultation, the police confirmed the existence of an arrest warrant for drug trafficking issued by the Paraná state court.
Along with the suspect, investigators found a 9mm pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition. The bag the 25-year-old man abandoned during his escape also contained a piece of marijuana.
He was taken to the Joinville Civil Police where he will be charged with illegal possession of a weapon and driving without a driver’s license, endangering the safety of others. After passing through the police station, the man was taken to prison to serve a warrant issued against him.
