The woman who died after falling from a cliff on Ilhota beach in Itapema, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina, last Sunday (24) has been identified as Elisete Pereira Neris. Elisette was with two other men and she jumped to try to save another man who had fallen and was rescued 150 meters from shore, having drowned in the sixth degree, but did not survive.
Family and friends mourned Elisete’s death on social media, as well as the disappearance of Adilson Silva, who was with her at the time of the accident. “So sad to see you go my friend… You were definitely one of the most special people I knew,” Marcia Pereira wrote.
The third unidentified victim managed to swim to shore and is OK. During this Monday (25) morning, the Itapema Fire Department deployed two divers and two more boats, for a total of six people, between the boat and the jet ski.
The search continued in the afternoon with two vessels, and this Tuesday (26) they will have to continue only without diving due to weather conditions. The search will be conducted using boats, and there will be two of them: one will go down from the drowning scene to the north, and the other will go up to the south, the fire department said.
Fall on the coast
In total, three victims fell from the shore, the woman Elisete Pereira was rescued with 6th degree drowning, already 150 meters from the shore, she was unconscious and with cardiopulmonary arrest. After resuscitation, the victim had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter, but he did not survive and died.
Adilson Silva is the second victim to go missing at sea. Another boy managed to swim to shore and was rescued. According to preliminary information from eyewitnesses, one of the victims, a man, lost his balance and fell into the sea. Elisetta, who was with him, tried to hold him, but she too was carried away by the sea.
The third victim, Adilson, who is still missing, witnessed this scene and jumped into the sea in an attempt to save them both, but ended up drowning. The fire department, however, does not confirm whether this was the dynamics.
