Governor Jorginho Mello (PL-SC) held the agenda in Blumenau, in the Itajaí Valley, this Monday morning (25). This time to sign an order for the construction of a new linear park, which includes the restoration of the left bank of the Itajaí Azú River in the Ponta Aguda area.
This is the third time in 45 days that the chief executive has held an agenda in Blumenau. This Monday (25), the governor’s agenda began early in the morning in the Prainha area, which is the starting point of the new park.
Accompanied by Mayor Mario Hildebrandt (Podemos), Vice-Mayor Maria Regina de Souza Soar (PSDB), as well as parliamentarians from the region, among other government officials, the Governor took an intimate look at what was once a postcard city. and where large outdoor events have been held here in the past.
“Mayor Mario is right to insist on this work. (…) This is a necessity because it will not only beautify the area, but will also provide greater security for the entire region. It will be used for promotions and events. It fits well with the city of Blumenau, so I decided to come here. (…) This will be another postcard from Blumenau,” said Governor Jorginho Mello in an interview with the publication NDTV.
Later, at 9 a.m., the governor was in the main hall of the Blumenau City Hall to sign an official order authorizing the start of work.
“We are celebrating the anniversary month of the city. I want to thank you, Governor, for Blumenau’s birthday gift. (…) And this work is focused on areas that need to be addressed: we will finally return the Itajaí-Azú River to the city,” said Mayor Mario Hildebrandt NDTV.

The work to create a new outdoor recreation area will require an investment of R$ 24,724,466.10 from the public treasury and a further R$ 3,273,746.56, which will be equivalent to the investment of the city of Blumenau. The total budget for the work is R$ 27,998,212.66.
The new linear park will be 990 meters long, with pedestrian and bicycle paths, furniture, lighting and viewing platforms for contemplating the river and the city center. The winner of the tender and responsible for the work will be Progresso.
The period for completing the work is 12 months, counting from the date of signing the work order. If the construction schedule is met, work should last until September 2024.
The park begins in the Prainha region and runs along the Itajaí Azú River to the foot of the Aldo Pereira de Andrade Bridge, better known as the Iron Bridge.
According to the state government, in addition to the work to revitalize the left bank of the Itajai-Azú River, 22 more works are underway in the city using public funds. The total investment exceeds R$174 million.
