Operation Alkeemia was responsible for executing 13 search and arrest warrants and 10 arrest warrants on Tuesday morning (19). The investigation began in June this year at the initiative of the PIC (Procedural Investigation) carried out by the RTO (Operational Technical Report) of the PMSC (Military Police of Santa Catarina).
According to Gaeco (Special Action Group Against Organized Crime), responsible for executing the warrants, during the operation there was concrete evidence that the defendants were involved in various criminal activities.
Practices include vehicle theft, possession of firearms, drug production and sale, money laundering and participation in criminal organizations.
In addition, the criminal group continued to receive a large amount of money from the large-scale production of synthetic drugs. The operation also aims to investigate the extent of the distribution of these drugs, which has spread to the south of the country.
Operation Alchemy: The group used front companies
According to the MPSC (Ministry of State of Santa Catarina), members of the group operated front companies to buy and sell real estate and purchased luxury cars to launder money.
In Santa Catarina, investigations were carried out in Joinville, Jaragua do Sul, Meleiro, Hermo, Ararangua and São José do Cerrito. In the state of Paraná, the action took place in the Rio Negro.
