The northern region of Santa Catarina recorded another violent weekend, with two deaths and two attempted murders. The crimes occurred between Friday (15) and Sunday (17) in the cities of Joinville, Guaramirim and São Francisco do Sul.
Violent crimes
The first of these occurred on Friday afternoon (15) on Chapeco Street in the Ubatuba district of São Francisco do Sul. A 46-year-old man was stabbed at least eight times in the chest area. According to military police, he was also hit on the head with a concrete block to the skull. The authorship and motivation of the crime are currently unknown.
This weekend another murder was recorded, this time in Joinville. Nathanael Luchini Neves, 20, died as a result of gunfire on Crux Street in the Jardim Paraiso neighborhood. The motivation and authorship of the crime have yet to be established.
Attempted murder
A family quarrel almost ended in tragedy in the early hours of Saturday (16) in the Aventureiro area. Police were called at about 2 a.m. on Santa Luzia Street.
The 23-year-old man broke the windows of his sister’s home and threatened her and her partner, police said. Then, in an attempt to defend herself, the woman stabbed him in the neck, according to police. He was saved.
The group attacked a neighbor with a machete
This Sunday afternoon (17) three people were arrested in Guaramirim on suspicion of involvement in a fight and attempted murder.
Following an argument, the trio got into a fight with their neighbor, the prime minister said. One of them then took a machete and hit the victim in the head. The other suspect also stabbed him with a pocket knife. He was wounded in the abdominal area.
In addition, a woman was also injured after she tried to intervene in the fight and was pushed.
The wounded man was taken to hospital by family members for what appeared to be minor injuries, the prime minister said. After the attack, the accused left. They were found at home, where they were arrested and taken to the police station.
