49-year-old actress Sabina Boghici died after falling from the 5th floor of a building in Lagoa, in the southern zone of Rio de Janeiro. She was rescued and taken to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital in very serious condition, but did not survive her injuries.
In 2022, Sabina was arrested on suspicion of fraud amounting to 720 million reais against her own mother. The actress was accused of stealing 16 works of art, including works by Tarsila do Amaral and Di Cavalcanti. Only one of Tarsila’s paintings, Sol Poente, was valued at 250 million reais.
The victim, Sabina’s mother, is the widow of a great art collector and owner of famous paintings. Between 2020 and 2021, an elderly woman was convinced by scammers that her daughter’s life was in danger and that spiritual work would be required to save her.
In addition to Sabina Bogić, the following were convicted and placed in pre-trial detention: Rosa Stanesco Nicolaou (“Mother of Valeria de Oshossy”); Gabriel Nicolaou Traslavinha Hafliger (Rosa’s son); Diana Rosa Aparecida Stanesko Vuletic (Rosa’s half-sister); Jacqueline Staneskos (cousin of Rose and Diana); and Slavko Vuletić (Diana’s father and Rosa’s stepfather), who received sums seized from the victim in several bank deposits.
