DNIT (National Department of Transport Infrastructure) reports that lot 3 of the BR-470 duplication, which covers most of the urban area of Blumenau, in the Itajaí Valley, will be carried out at an accelerated pace this year. The reason is record investments planned for 2023, surpassing previous years.

Photo: DNIT/Reproduction/NDThe Federal Authority reports that from January to July 2023 alone, 32 million reais were invested to carry out the duplication of Lot 3, which extends from 44 km in the Belchior area in Gaspar to 57 km on the bridge over the Rio do Testo, in the Badenfurt area, in Blumenau.
According to the agency, significant investments are due to the construction of three viaducts:
- at 45 km, in front of Segala’s company;
- at 47 km, in the Fortaleza area;
- at km 57, in Badenfurt.
In the case of the Badenfurt viaduct, the DNIT has already announced that the deadline for its completion is January 2024. The amount of R$32 million for 2023 exceeds that of 2020, when the federal government allocated the largest amount of resources ever allocated to the site. . In the same year, the Maphisa Viaduct at the intersection of BR-470 and SC-108 was completed.
In addition, work is underway to create new duplication sections between km 44 and 50, between the entrance to the Belchior district in Gaspar and the viaduct under the Via Expressa at km 50. DNIT says points in this area could be vacated by the end of this year.
Duplicating the Blumenau site is “one of the most difficult”
According to DNIT, Lot 3 is one of the most difficult to duplicate as it runs through the urban area of Blumenau and requires the construction of bridges, viaducts and investments to expropriate land.
In addition, three other points on the highway will soon receive new viaducts: the Seleiro do Vale interchange, the Ari Barroso interchange and a point near the Samuel Morse Street tunnel in the Fortaleza area.
According to the agency, the entire section of Lot 3 has a budget value of R$258 million. A total of R$155 million has already been invested on this site since the start of work, representing 60% of the work completed.
