Animals from families affected by the burst of the Kasan reservoir in the Monte Cristo area of Florianópolis have been cared for since Wednesday (6) by teams from Dibea (Department of Animal Protection).

Professionals are helping collect food donations and conducting veterinary consultations to assess the health of pets following the early morning crash on Sept. 6.
About 92 houses were damaged and two people were injured. In total, after completing the investigation into the causes of the incident, at least 150 families will receive compensation.
Some animals were almost swept away by the force of the water, while others even suffered minor injuries. According to the agency, at least 10 dogs received treatment during the mobilization.

The council, owned by the Florianópolis Municipal Health Department, published the entire relief campaign on social networks, which also delivered food and medicine to the owners of the affected animals.
On Thursday (7), a collection point for clothing, consumables, cleaning products, household utensils, as well as dog and cat food was opened at the Continente Municipal Secretariat.
Donations are ongoing and can be made directly to the Fundação Rede Solidária Somar Floripa.
