More than 300 bottles of wine brought from Argentina were seized this Friday morning (8) in Joinville, in the north of Santa Catarina. The capture was made on BR-101.
According to the PRF (Federal Traffic Police), there were 326 bottles of wine in the trunk of the car with Curitiba (PR) license plates. The car’s rear seats were removed to increase cargo capacity.
Transported drinks were brought in irregularly from Argentina. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were released but face embezzlement charges, according to PRF.
The wines were delivered to the warehouse of the Federal Tax Service. According to the Ministry of Finance, the maximum monthly quota for the import of alcoholic beverages into the country is limited to 12 liters or 16 bottles per person.
