The civil police charged the lawyer with embezzlement of 137,000 reais from a client in Nova Itaberaba, in the west of Santa Catarina. At the end of the police investigation, he was charged with an offense under Article 168, §1, II of the Criminal Code. The punishment may exceed four years in prison.
The facts began in 2013 when the victim contacted a lawyer to file a lawsuit against the INSS (National Institute of Social Security).
According to civilian police chief Eder Matte, who is in charge of the investigation, after a long absence of any information, he decided to look for another law firm.
Lawyer got court orders
He was then surprised that the previous lawyer received a precatorium of around BRL 137,000. A complaint to the police was registered and a police investigation was launched.
The robbery was committed in 2022, but the victim turned to the civilian police only in July 2023. Evidence was gathered and the lawyer was charged. Now the investigation will be transferred to the judiciary.
