Two public spaces in Blumenau have received new public notices of concessions from the mayor’s office for the private sector’s operation of catering establishments. The initiative was launched this week by the Secretariat for Partnerships and Concessions (Separc).

One of them is located in the Itupava Seca area and offers the Praça dos Músicos Alfredo Hering concession. The area available for development is 190 square meters and the winning bidder will be able to use the site for nine years and two months, provided they build and maintain the structures. Opening of envelopes with proposals of interested persons will take place on September 22.

This week, the concession notice was reissued for Commendador George Buatim Square, located adjacent to the West Terminal. An area of ​​303 square meters can be used to install a bar, restaurant, beer garden or snack bar.

The winning company will have the right to explore the area if it intends to build public toilets and a commercial building. The grant will be offered for a period of 5 months to 6 years, and the opening of the envelopes will take place at 9 am on September 20th.

According to the mayor of Blumenau, Mario Hildebrandt, the municipality has achieved excellent results with the first areas transferred to the private sector. “The community has benefited from quality spaces, the city has gained new tourist attractions, and the economy has been boosted by the birth of new businesses and new job opportunities. This is also our goal for these two new concessions,” he says.

Each notification provides for specific deadlines for the submission and preparation of executive projects. Once approved, work must be completed within 60 days.

“Thanks to this, after the completion of all tender procedures, we hope that next year we will be able to provide more of these two renovated premises for the use of the community,” adds the Minister of Partnerships and Concessions, Rodrigo Jansen.

Unique station square

The new Praça da Estação Unifique, commissioned on July 20, is an example of giving public space to the private sector. This place used to be called Praça Victor Konder.

As part of the concession, Insight Engenharia obtained the right to commercially operate the site and use the naming rights in exchange for the maintenance of facilities and public facilities such as bathrooms and a park.

The square received new infrastructure, gardens, a playground, a place for pets (a resting place for pets), and a building was built that refers to the first railway station in Blumenau, built in the 1900s. the famous train cabin, which was traditionally located in front of City Hall.
