Residents of Boa Vista in Crisium, south of Santa Catarina, were surprised when the family decided to build a house in the courtyard of the community center, which is under renovation.
According to community leader Amaral Bittencourt, on Sunday (3) he received several calls from residents condemning the situation. “I went there and they were really building a house in the rain,” he said.
To resolve the situation, Bittencourt contacted the military police, who explained that it was not possible to build a facility here. The council member even offered to help those in charge of the construction. “I decided to pay the freight and take the boards out of there so as not to lose the material,” he explained.
“People are terrified: today there is garbage on earth, tomorrow it will be a house. This is a public, leisure place, we have been fighting for this for a long time, ”Bittencourt said.
However, according to the community leader, the couple seemed to understand the orientation of the police, but work resumed early on Monday morning (4). “Today, the residents’ association also contacted the prime minister, and I called the city government,” he said.
House built on donated land
When contacted by the Crisium Heritage Council, Amaral was told that the object was the result of a donation from the company. Despite the fact that the land was donated, the documentation for the land is still in the name of the donor organization.
“They are checking records to see who will be looking after the house,” Bittencourt concluded.
