An initiative that will greatly improve urban mobility and accessibility in the region with a bike path and widened sidewalks, as well as improve the oxygenation of a small lagoon and the protection of local heritage in Bento Silverio Square, work has been halted and restarted three times due to a legal dispute filed by the Federal Attorney’s Office . The last decision favorable to the continuation of work was made on the 10th of this month by TRF4 (Federal Land Court 4th Region). In total, the delay lasted 42 days, and now the mayor’s office is trying to overcome it by streamlining services.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Rafael Hane notes that the work has all the necessary licenses and is completely regular. “We have technical people, over 50 designers who have worked on this project, as well as teams from the IMA (Instituto do Meio Ambiente de SC) who have been evaluating this proposal. That is, we have great security in all the necessary documentation and we expect the continuation of the provision of services, that this pace of work will no longer stop. This is the point of view not only of the municipality, but of the Lagoa community as a whole,” he says.
At the moment, he explains, wooden struts are being produced to temporarily support the structure. “We have three teams at this job, one in charge and one on the float, just to try to make up for lost time. Work is currently progressing at a very fast pace to ensure this conclusion. After this step, we will also make metal studs to then build the foundation block and nine concrete piers to support the final bridge,” he explains.
According to the secretary, the services will continue in the summer season. “The main work will continue to be carried out underwater, driving wooden and metal piles. The big advantage of this work is that it does not affect or affect the traffic during its execution, as it is completely outside the scheme and existing routes in the area. We managed to complete this work during the season, so we are going to continue without interruptions. The main goal is to make a lot of progress during this period and buy time, ”he clarifies.
Improvements in mobility and accessibility
The new bridge will ease traffic in the region and eliminate traffic bottlenecks, especially when arriving from the Senrinho area to the current bridge, a section where there is a significant slowdown in vehicle speeds.
The structure will also provide an important improvement to the area’s accessibility, as there will be sidewalks and bike lanes, allowing for adequate pedestrian access and movement across the site, as well as its use by new modes of transport.
Another benefit is the preservation of the historical heritage of Lagoa da Conceicao, as passing traffic will be diverted from the area located next to Plaza Bento Silverio, where Casarão Bento Silvério is located. The building has traces of architecture from the period of the post-industrial revolution, and therefore in 1985 it was included in the list of historical and artistic heritage of the municipality.
In addition, the new Lagoa Bridge will become the hallmark of the capital and will contribute to the development of tourism throughout the region.
More oxygenation for Lagoa Pequena
The work will also improve the oxygenation of Lagoa Pequena by increasing the width of the water passage from seven to 30 meters. “In other words, we are going to triple the capacity of the lagoon to change the oxygenation of Lagoa Pequena. Over the years, it has been difficult for us to maintain this state of the environment, and it is changing with the expansion of the structure,” explains the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Florianopolis.
The new Lagoa Bridge connects the Senrinho area, very close to the Lagoa shopping center, with Avenida das Rendeiras. Its height at maximum tide will also be increased from 1.80 meters to six meters, allowing larger vessels under construction to pass.
“The bridge runs parallel to the existing one, so there will be no disruption to local traffic during the work. We already have signs as a result of boats passing near the services. So we will also have navigational signs to guide users. The goal is that we really manage to stick to the schedule and complete this work as soon as possible,” says Rafael Hane.
Executive project
According to the Executive Design, the new Lagoa da Conceicao Bridge will be located to the right of the current bridge, which is worn out and not well suited to the flow of vehicles in the region.
It will have a reinforced concrete structure with a fence and a curved shape, 214 meters long and 17 meters wide, with the following design: two lanes 3.5 meters wide, two sidewalks (on the sides of each lane) 2.5 meters wide and a bi-directional bicycle. a track (with two lanes in opposite directions) 2.80 meters wide.
The environmental revitalization of the new Lagoa da Conceicaño bridge includes the complete refurbishment of the existing decks and jetties in the area adjacent to the jetty, which is to the left of the current bridge. And one more thing: after the demolition of this structure – which will happen only after the commissioning of the new bridge – the dumps of the two “old” sources will receive an extensive infrastructure for recreation with areas for contemplating natural beauties, a playground, a gym and a public square. .
