The death toll of a 59-year-old man (21) arrested on Monday, suspected of raping a vulnerable person, rape and sexual harassment, has increased in five cities across the state, according to the Santa Catarina Civil Police. from 12 to 17. .

The preliminary detention took place in a house in Porto Belo. The decision is made by the 1st Criminal Court of Florianopolis, which also decided to search and confiscate the house in Palos.

The crimes allegedly took place in Florianopolis, Santo Amaro de Imperatriz, San José, Palos and Itajai. The investigation began in March after four incidents were reported against the suspect in the Campeche area of ​​Florianopolis.

The case is being investigated by the Women’s Rights Police Department. According to the delegate in charge of the case, Inara Drapalski, the cases under investigation took place between October 2021 and August 14 this year.

“There are five cases of rape of a vulnerable person, when the suspect touched the private parts of girls under 14 years old, 11 cases of sexual harassment and one case of rape,” clarifies the delegate.

The investigation found that the man had a way of committing crimes. According to the delegate, a suspect approached the girls and women and asked for help fixing a broken motorcycle.

“He asked the victims to step on the motorcycle pedal. And he, on the contrary, masturbated and touched the legs and intimate parts of the victims, ”says Drapalski. Police also note that the man was always looking for low-traffic streets in order to carry out a criminal plan.

The civilian police shared a video showing one of the cases of sexual harassment. In the pictures, a woman presses the pedal of a motorcycle, while he crouches on the opposite side.

Video captured by street cameras shows the man moving the motorcycle and touching the victim’s legs, arms and waist, moving her from side to side. Cars pass along the street, and the man remains where he is not visible from the waist down.

The woman gets up, leaves, and points in certain directions at certain points in the recording. The suspect then gets on a motorcycle and drives off. He took advantage of the situation to touch the private parts of the children.
