The federal police began this Thursday (17th) phases of Operation Legal Security VII, which is investigating companies providing private security services without authorization. Police actions are being carried out throughout Brazil. In Santa Catarina, 15 institutions are being inspected.
About 500 federal police officers conduct inspections throughout the country. Screening activities are planned for 449 establishments, including nightclubs, shops, condominiums and others.
In the state of Santa Catarina, target companies of operation are located in São José, Laguna, Joinville, Itapema, Gaspar, Criciuma, Orléans, Lajes, São Lourenco do Oeste, Ceara and São Miguel do Oeste.
The operation aims to combat companies that provide clandestine security services that endanger the physical integrity of people and property of contractors. According to the Federal Police, underground companies do not comply with the minimum operating requirements established by law.
In addition, the institution notes that the undercover “guards” are not subject to the control of the Federal Police regarding their criminal history, training, physical and psychological abilities, which creates security risks.
In Brazil, only private security companies authorized by the Federal Police can provide services and employ security guards.
