The PF (Federal Police) issued four search and seizure warrants this Friday (11) against members of the armed forces suspected of being involved in the case of jewelry received from foreign governments by former President Jair Bolsonaro.

The operation aims to combat the crimes of embezzlement and money laundering in the case of the sale of jewels received from foreign governments by then President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Two search and seizure warrants were issued in Brasilia (DF), one in Sao Paulo (SP) and one in Niteroi (RJ). Information taken from R7.

Those under investigation are suspected of selling official jewels received by former President Bolsonaro during his term of office (2018-2022). The federal police justified that the defendants could use “the structure of the Brazilian state to redirect goods of high property value, delivered by foreign authorities in official representations to representatives of the state, by selling these items abroad.”

Also, according to the OF, the amounts received from the sale “came into the personal assets of the suspects through intermediaries and without using the official banking system in order to conceal the origin, location and ownership of the valuables.”

The amount of proceeds from the sale of jewelry and gifts is not reported.

After transporting the sculptures to the US on the presidential plane that brought Bolsonaro to the country shortly before the end of his presidential term in 2022, Mauro Cid asked his father, Mauro Lourena, to visit jewelry stores for a sale, according to the investigation. .

The general was in the same class as former president Jair Bolsonaro at the Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras in Resenda (RJ) in the 1970s.
