An inspection carried out at the end of last year shows that the situation with the Colombo Salles and Pedro Ivo bridges in Florianopolis is alarming.

In a report sent to the State Secretariat for Infrastructure on 20 December, Nova Engevix Engenharia e Projetos S/A points to problems in the supporting blocks of the two structures. On the Colombo Salles Bridge, which connects SC Island to the mainland, the document recorded “very advanced corrosion, accompanied by chipping of the concrete covering the reinforcement on its lower face.”
Reinforcement, also according to the report, is responsible for “keeping the block stable in the face of the forces transmitted by the pillars.”
Block 4 is in the most critical situation. Engineers who have analyzed bridges in the locomotive speak of “full adherence” due to “loose reinforcement on the underside of the block”.
On the Pedro Ivo bridge, the inspection also found a lot of corrosion and “heavy peeling” of the concrete at the bottom.
The state prosecutor’s office demands that measures be taken to maintain the bridges. The head of the 30th prosecutor’s office, Daniel Paladino, proposed signing with the public infrastructure a Behavioral Adjustment Term to carry out structural reforms and other measures.
