The fire department of Pernambuco confirmed this Saturday (8) that it had found the bodies of the last missing in the ruins of a building that collapsed in the municipality of Paulista in Pernambuco.

The teams are still trying to find the three animals that were on the top floor of the building.

Around 3:00 pm this Saturday, the bodies of Marcella, 40, and her two children, Wallace, 10, and Maria Flor, 6, were discovered. According to the fire department, the three were found hugging each other on a double bed.

30 hours of searching

So far, 14 deaths have been confirmed in 30 hours of continuous searches: four women, four children, three men and three teenagers.

They were all found under the rubble of eight apartments in the same building that had completely collapsed, in addition to four others in another building that had partially collapsed.

According to the latest bulletin published by the Secretariat of Social Protection of Pernambuco, among the 14 victims, the fire department saved only 18-year-old Deiveson Soares da Silva alive.

However, his death was confirmed by the Miguel Arraes hospital team, where he was sent.

His mother, 43-year-old Maria da Conceisan Mendez da Silva, died at the scene as a result of the collapse.

The fact happened at about 6 am on Friday (7) and was recorded by the surveillance camera of a nearby institution.

Also on Friday, three people were rescued alive: a 65-year-old woman and two 15-year-old girls.

An elderly woman and one of the teenagers were sent to Miguel Arraes, who is in Paulista. Another teenager has been admitted to the Hospital da Restauração in Recife.

The building was blocked by civil defense

The Paulista City Hall said the building, with three floors per block, was condemned and was already blocked by the Civil Defense, but is still occupied by residents.

According to the Civil Defense of Pernambuco, Caixa Seguridora, one of the companies responsible for the construction, even carried out an inspection of the entire residential complex this Thursday, the day before the tragedy.

Paulista Civil Defense also said the insurance company did not authorize the authority to inspect the buildings, requiring a lawsuit to conduct an inspection.
