Building collapsed due to rain
The collapse of a building in Conjunto Beira Mar occurred this Friday morning (7) after overnight heavy rains in Greater Recife, which is on high alert due to precipitation.
According to UOL, the buildings had already been condemned by the Civil Defense for the risk of collapse, but at the time of the incident, three families were in the property.
Paulista’s city hall told the portal that the site’s ban occurred in 2010, but “the building has been reoccupied by homeless groups” and assistance has already been requested from Caixa Econômica Federal and the responsible insurance companies to “solve this chronic problem.”
