This Wednesday (5th) marks three months since the attack on the kindergarten CEI Cantinho Bom Pastor, which took place on April 5 in Blumenau, in the Itajai valley. 90 days later, several security measures were announced following an episode that ended in the deaths of four children and the injury of five more.
Since last Monday (3), the reserve military police began to work in the field of security in the public schools EEB Frei Godofredo and EEB Marina Vieira Leal in the city of Gaspar, in the Itajai Valley. Institutions become part of the Santa Catarina government’s “Safe School” program with increased paid reserve police officers in institutions.
According to Gaspard’s military police, the integration of these police officers into the workforce is gradual as they complete their recruitment and training process. The security authorities inform that those schools that still do not have a reserve police officer provided for by the Program are still conducting a daily “School Safety” round.
Police officers participating in the program, in addition to the knowledge gained throughout their career as a military police officer, receive special training for working in a school environment.
About the program
More than 41,000 educators and more than 1,500 police officers have been trained in the Run, Hide and Fight protocol as part of the Safer Schools program, as mandated by the state government. In Gaspar and Ilhot, all specialists working in municipal and state schools were trained in May and June.
The Safe School program involves all security forces (military police, civilian police, fire brigade and science police), as well as the secretariats of public safety and the secretariat of education.
ABOUT no data+ will not publish the names of the perpetrator and victims of the attack, as well as explicit images of the crime. The editorial decision was made out of respect for families and the ECA (Children and Adolescents Act), and also out of a desire not to justify the role of criminals.
