A 31-year-old man was detained by PM (military police) after his pit bull dog escaped, invaded homes and injured another dog. A misdemeanor criminal case for negligence in caring for animals occurred last Saturday (24) in Casadora, in the Midwest of Santa Catarina.
According to the Prime Minister, the incident took place in the area of Santa Catarina. Residents reported the situation, the police went to the place and established a violation.
Testimony of witnesses who witnessed the attack was collected. The neighbor’s dog was injured, bleeding and in need of help, according to police.
Other residents said this was not the first time the pit bull had escaped and that the animal had already invaded other homes where children were playing.
The person responsible for the pit bull has been identified and notified of the violation. According to the police, he promised to appear in court, signed a detailed deadline and, after being escorted, was released on the spot.
Second pit bull attack on the same day
On the same day, a second pit bull attack was recorded. [sábado,24], in the Martello area. Two dogs of this breed injured another dog. The police arrived at the scene and carried out the procedure, but the owner of the dogs had already fled the scene.
Under current law, failure to take care of animals is considered a criminal offense. The punishment for this type of offense can be simple imprisonment for a period of ten days to two months or a fine.
“It is very important that pet owners are aware of the responsibility they have regarding the care and safety of their pets. Failure to be careful can lead to serious accidents, endangering the physical integrity of both other animals and people,” the police warned.
