Four people were arrested during the civilian police operation Timbo Grande. The work was aimed at arresting individuals involved in the robbery of a bank branch in Timbo Grande, Santa Catarina’s Midwest, a case filed on June 2.
From Thursday (22) to Friday (23), four search and seizure warrants and four arrest warrants were issued in the cities of Joinville, Barra Velha, Santa Cecilia and São Cristovão do Sul.
Two people were detained, who, according to the police, participated in the robbery of the agency. Together with them, another man and another woman associated with a criminal group were detained.
One of them is a 44-year-old man from São José dos Pinhais who was convicted seven times for bank robberies and one for murder when he tried to kill policemen during a breakout in Joinville in 2002.
In October 2022, the same man was released using an electronic bracelet while serving his sentence in Parana, but broke the equipment some time before the robbery in Timbo Grande.
The man was arrested Thursday when civilian police stopped him at a gas station on a BR-101 in Joinville. At that time, according to police, the attacker did not have time to react.
At the suspect’s home, police found a rifle, a ballistic vest, a pistol and the ammunition used in the robbery, as well as a revolver and another vest stolen from guards at a bank branch.
The second suspect, a 32-year-old man from Santa Cecilia with a history of robbery and drug dealing, was arrested in the city of Barra Velha on Friday.
Investigations related to the theft continue to be carried out by the Civil Police in order to clarify all the details and responsibility of the persons involved in this crime.
The DRAS/DEIC (Robbery and Kidnapping Police Station) team, along with the Santa Cecilia, Timbo Grande and Cazador DIC Police Stations, worked together to investigate the case.

The crime took place on the afternoon of June 2, when employees and customers were taken hostage by six heavily armed robbers. The robbery took place at an agency in the municipality of Timbo Grande, in the Midwest of Santa Catarina.
During the robbery, according to police, the perpetrators acted with extreme brutality, holding customers and employees hostage, exchanging gunfire with police and setting fire to a car.
After that, the group managed to escape from the city center, despite the siege carried out by the police forces.
