The alleged theft of wine ended in a police operation in five Santa Catarina towns. The truck driver in charge of loading the drink would lie and say it was stolen when in fact he was involved in the crime.
According to the DEIC (State Office of Criminal Investigation), it all started when a truck driver filed a complaint with the police about the theft of the wine he was transporting. He also stated that he was in captivity.
However, the investigation found that the truck driver was actually involved in the crime. The truck’s tracker was deactivated and the cargo was sent to a warehouse in Itaiopolis. From the information received, it was verified that the crime was not a robbery, with the use of violence, but theft.
Investigative work identified the perpetrators of the theft, and on Wednesday (21) five warrants for search and seizure and four other warrants for provisional arrest were executed. The police operation was carried out in the cities of Araquari, Joinville, Itaiopolis, Tijucas and Videira.
At one location, in the city of Itaiópolis, where the shipment was originally delivered, some items of the stolen shipment were confiscated, and the person responsible for the crime of receiving was also arrested.
