The commanders, chiefs or directors of the army barracks in Brazil were relieved of their positions. The decree was published on Wednesday (7) in the DOU (Official Gazette) and signed by the commander of the Brazilian army, General Tomás Miguel Mine.

The list of names contains more than 170 officers who were rehabilitated “as necessary for ex officio service in the line of duty.” In Santa Catarina, seven soldiers from the barracks at Blumenau, Joinville, Florianopolis, Crisium, Porto Uniau and Lages were dismissed from their duties.

In a note from the 23rd Infantry Battalion of Blumenau in the Itajai Valley, it is reported that all the commanders of the military organizations of the Brazilian army who have served their command term – a two-year term – have been rehabilitated. “Each commander of a military unit is appointed a year before taking office and is dismissed in the second year of command to make room for the next training groups.”

“This is a normal and routine administrative act. Every year, about 50% of military units have a planned change of command. Army Newsletter No. 18 of May 9, 2023 published a list of new commanders appointed for the 2024-2025 biennium, and the consequence of this is the dismissal of those who will be replaced,” the press service of the 23rd BI said.
