A Colombia public television is broadcast this Sunday (11) video of the moment when indigenous rescuers discovered on Friday (9) four indigenous children who had survived for 40 days in the Amazon jungle.
“The eldest daughter Leslie with the baby in her arms ran up to me. Leslie said, “I’m hungry,” said Nicolas Ordoñez Gomez, one of the members of the search party.
“One of the two boys was lying. He stood up and told me, “My mother is dead,” he added.
In pictures taken with a mobile phone, four brothers from the Huitoto community appear weak and very thin. Rescuers, representatives of the local guards, sing, smoke tobacco (a sacred plant for the natives) and joyfully thank.
“God never fails us when we sincerely ask. (…) Faith set us on the path we wanted,” says another indigenous rescuer.
Baby Kristin, who completed her first year of life in the middle of an inhospitable forest, finds herself in the arms of one of the local guards, who, together with the military, participated in the search operation.
Three other weakened juveniles, Leslie (age 13), Soleini (age 9) and Thien Noriel (age 5), gather to be surrounded by their other rescuers.

The images released by the Colombian public media system also show children lying down receiving rehydration “serum” administered by the military with small spoons.
“We are handing over the boys to the Colombian armed forces. We found them at a distance of four and a half kilometers, ”heard from the place where the plane on which they were traveling crashed on May 1.
The accident killed the children’s mother, an indigenous leader, and a pilot.
