This Monday (5th) marks two months since the attack on the Cantinho Bom Pastor kindergarten in Blumenau, which killed four children and injured five.
The Itajai training networks on Santa Catarina’s north coast were quickly subjected to new facility security measures.
After what happened in Blumenau, in April of this year, Itajai began to increase security measures to protect and save the lives of students and school staff. The actions are part of the “Safe Education: A Challenge for All” campaign.
In May, the municipality began hiring armed guards for all of its schools, early childhood centers and face-to-face learning centers.
The winning company must provide 245 armed security guards who will work in 120 training units of the Municipal Network.
New security changes made
During these two months, changes were made to the structure of all public schools that needed changes. One of the first measures taken was the implementation of the Alert Escola button, developed in record time by the Minister of Technology.
Another practice adopted since the day of the incident has been preventive rounds of municipal guards and military police in all training units. Operations and school visits have also been stepped up to ensure greater safety for students and staff.
