Producer Bruno de Souza Rodriguez, the prime suspect in actor Jeff Machado’s death, denies killing the Santa Catarina man. He has been on the run since May 1, when a Rio de Janeiro judge ordered his temporary arrest for triple murder and concealing a body.
“Do you want to know if I would have planned such a cruel death? My answer is no”. Never, under no circumstances,” said Bruno in an interview published this Sunday (4) in the Domingo Espetacular.
“I have not killed and would not kill another person under any circumstances.”
Bruno also said he hoped “the police will get the job done to find Marcelo”, whom he pointed to as responsible for Jeff’s murder. There is no third person involved in the murder for the investigation.
Apart from Bruno, only Jander Vinicius da Silva Braga, who is under arrest, is also charged by the civil police and the public ministry of Rio de Janeiro.
“I cooperated with the police by providing information, giving facts and locating the body in anticipation that the police would conduct a search for Marcelo as soon as possible, trusting my defense 100% so that they could be able to prove their innocence.”
What links Bruno to the murder?
Jander Vinicius da Silva Braga, who was arrested on Friday (2) for the death of Jeff Machado, told police that Bruno Rodriguez was responsible for the murder of the Santa Catarina actor. According to him, Jeff was killed by his colleague strangled by a telephone wire. The information was published by R7.
The suspect’s testimony corroborates the police investigation. According to investigators, the crime was planned by Bruno, a friend of Jeff, with the help of Jinder. In addition, the autopsy report states that the actor was strangled as a telephone wire was found around his neck.
The defense of the suspects, however, argues that they did not participate in the murder, but only in hiding the corpse. They attribute the death of the Santa Catarina actor to a third party.
There are indications that Jeff was strangled. After that, the body was placed in a chest, two meters of concrete in a house in Campo Grande, west of Rio.
Police discovered that the property was rented by Bruno last December, a month before Jeff disappeared.
Despite severe decomposition, the body was identified by fingerprints, and a telephone cord was wrapped around the neck. The forensic report was inconclusive, but revealed signs of strangulation.
