The cities of Casaador and Santa Cecilia in the Midwest of Santa Catarina are completely surrounded this Saturday (3rd) for the search for those responsible for the robbery of a bank branch in the municipality of Timbo Grande. The crime happened this Friday (2), people were taken hostage.
According to the Prime Minister (Military Police), the 33rd Military Police Battalion from Curitibanos is working along with other security forces and battalions in the region in search of the fugitives. The Eagle helicopter also helps in the search for the robbers.
Robbers take hostages in Timbo Grande
According to information provided by the military police, six heavily armed men robbed a bank branch located in the center of Timbo Grande and took hostages. The victims have now been released.
So far, the prime minister has not said how many people were taken hostage, as well as where and how they were released. The amounts stolen by the robbers are also not disclosed.
The robbery frightened the inhabitants of a small town of 8,000 people. Before fleeing, the robbers set fire to the car.
