TV Globo has informed police in Rio de Janeiro that former employee Bruno Rodriguez, suspected of being involved in the death of actor Jeff Machado, was fired in 2018 for good reason after the broadcaster discovered that he offered false jobs on the company’s programs in exchange for money.

The information was originally revealed by columnist Leo Diaz of Metropoles and confirmed by Record TV.

In a note, Globo said it provided the police with details of the ex-employee’s termination and confirmed that it does not require any form of payment for participation in its programs or authorize third parties to make such collection, and as soon as this type of fraud becomes known, immediately takes action against scammers.

One line of investigation is that Jefferson’s death is linked to an alleged job offer scam. Investigators are investigating whether the actor Bruno paid about 20,000 reais in exchange for a TV role.

ND+ had access to an audio recording of the conversation between the actor and Bruno. In the tape, Jeff asks his supposed friend for help getting a role on the soap opera, talks about his grandparents’ desire to watch it on TV, and notes that his financial situation is getting worse.

According to the actor’s family lawyer Jairo Magalhães, the suspect had credit cards and keys to the artist’s house and car, in addition, the place where Jeff’s body was found was indicated in the name of his friend.

According to the lawyer, he would still have moved the actor’s account after the disappearance. The cost will be 5 thousand reais. “Transfers have been made, purchases have been made,” Magalhaes summed up in an interview with ND+. So far, he has not been arrested.

The same friend registered Jeff’s disappearance at the Rio de Janeiro police station for missing persons. The friend’s position placed him at the center of an investigation that had been going on for four months.

“As a friend, he has hired lawyers to keep abreast of the investigation. This has already aroused suspicion. His house was searched and seized for possible involvement in some of this crime, ”said the lawyer in an interview with Domingo Espetacular.

Bruno’s defense, represented by attorney Joao Maia, told the press that they would provide clarification on Jefferson Machado’s death at a press conference this Thursday (1st).
