An old demand from the community, José Ferreira da Silva Square, on the Northern Ring Road, in Blumenau, in the Itajai Valley, has been completely revived. With a new playground, renovated sports fields, walking path, urban furniture, in addition to improvements to the drainage system and porches, the premises were handed over to the community this Monday (29).
“Investing in recreational areas and social spaces is an investment in quality of life. Our leadership has made this possible by expanding the set of opportunities so that our community has more and more access to space in their area. However, the warning we leave now is about taking care of space. It is up to all of us as taxpayers to ensure that there are no more cases of robbery,” emphasizes Mayor Mario Hildebrandt of Blumenau.
Squares with a new face in Blumenau
With an investment of BRL 373,000 to revitalize the square on the Northern Circular Road, BRL 200,000 came from a parliamentary amendment and BRL 173,000 came from the Municipal Council’s Urban Planning Fund.
According to Minister of Urban Planning Eder Boron, the municipality will consider creating other spaces. “The Urban Development Secretariat has about 25 projects for public gardens around the city, which, like this space here, will take on life and new functionality so that our citizens have more and more access to leisure and entertainment,” he praises.
Among other areas that will soon be restored by the municipality, there are two squares on Arthur Rabe street that will be restored, another one on Alfredo Kestner street, in addition to the renovation of the Praça da Prefectura with the installation of a bandstand. New squares are planned for both places on Max Göring and Hermann Göring streets. There are also five other areas that will be restored as compensatory measures thanks to projects to be implemented in the municipality.
