A rally driver died this Saturday and his co-driver was taken to hospital after his car fell about 50 meters into a gorge while they were testing at km 15 of AV-503, at the height of Avila El Herradon.

The events took place around 15:16, when Operations Unit 112 of the Castile and León Emergency Center received a call from a preventive agent identified during the rally test, reporting a vehicle that had left the road. test.

According to the informant, the car fell into a ravine from a height of about 50 meters, as a result of which two people were injured – the co-pilot and the pilot, who were stuck inside the car.

With this data, the 1112 Operational Service notified the Civil Guard of the Road and the COS of Ávila, the Emergency Coordination Center, the Ávila fire department and the emergency medical service – Sacyl, which sent a medical helicopter and an ambulance. In addition, civil protection officers arrived at the scene.

At the scene, Sacyl officials confirmed the death of the pilot, and the co-pilot was finally taken to the hospital in connection with the prevention of the accident.
