Operation Deic Presente! by the Santa Catarina Civil Police resulted in the arrest of two adults and the detention of four teenagers in several cities across the state this Thursday (20). The purpose of the action is to stop the spread of false information about attacks and attacks on schools in the cities of Florianopolis, San José, Biguaçu, Brusque, Blumenau, Capinzal and Campo Ere.

In addition, according to PCSC General Delegate Ulisses Gabriel, calming down and ensuring a safe environment in schools is a priority. According to the authorities, the main motivation of those who spread this false information is self-promotion on social networks.

The operation was successful, resulting in the detainment and arrest of the participants, as well as the seizure of eight electronic devices, which will now be analyzed by the authorities to assist in the search for other participants.

Luis Felipe Rosado, a delegate from the Deutsch Police Station for Combating Computer Crimes, said that the cases under this operation have nothing to do with the attack on the Cantinho Bom Pastor kindergarten in Blumenau, in the Itajai valley.

According to Rosado, these were identified and isolated cases without any connection. “These are not situations of mass maneuver for any act; in fact, these are people who use this pseudonym to cause panic in schools, ”he clarifies.

Motivation will be “likes”

According to Rosado, young people claim that they did it only to promote themselves on social networks: “They do it for likes. People like, unfortunately, to appear on social networks,” he comments.

The delegate also notes that the state’s education system is virtually free of any act or violent attack.

The delegate commented that young people who were detained would be hospitalized for up to 45 days. In addition, according to Rosado, young people will be listened to and their mobile phones will be checked by civilian police brigades.

Investigation of those involved

The director of intelligence for the PCSC, Delegate Gustavo Madeira, says tracking down possible individuals is ongoing with the Department of Justice. Madeira reiterates that the civilian police are committed to ensuring the peace and security of the people of Santa Catarina.

Since April 5, the JCS has investigated 98 people suspected of being involved in spreading false information. Of these, 38 people were sent to the police departments of the respective districts, as a result of which 18 people were arrested or detained (in the case of minors).

The result shows that seven search and seizure warrants were executed. The operation was supported by other DEIC police stations besides the DPCAMI (Delegation for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly) in Blumenau and Brusque, the DIC in São Lourenco do Oeste and Joazaba, and from Capinzal. and Campo Ere.
