Negotiations for the purchase of a truck ended in a police case in the city of Ituporanga, in Alto Vale do Itajaí, on Monday morning (17). The military police were called to the place where the alleged buyer of the car was located, in the Jardim America area.
According to the report of the Prime Minister (military police), a 25-year-old young man, who was supposed to be a resident of Jaragua do Sul in the north of Santa Catarina, would go to Ituporanga to buy a VW Amarok 4X4 pickup truck for the amount of 73,000. 00 reais, which he would see for sale on the Facebook page.
The alleged seller would have told the victim that the car was with his brother-in-law. Arriving at the place where the car was, seeing the truck and inquiring about the vehicle, the young man made a deal and paid the cost of the car through Peaks, but did not pay attention to an important detail.
The recipient of the Pix account shared in the contact, with whom the victim spoke via social media, was not the real seller, but a scammer posing as the owner.
According to the police, the real owner of the car told the police that he actually posted an ad for the sale of his car on the Internet, but received contact asking him to remove the publication from the air, as there is a person of interest who keeps the truck.
Faced with a deadlock in the deal, the military police went to the scene and tried to contact the person who received the wrongful image. However, the fraudster blocked the contacts of the victim, and it was not possible to establish his whereabouts, not to mention the return of the cost. The military police were only responsible for filing the police report.
The police reiterate that this type of fraud was used frequently and could result in significant property losses. The suspected perpetrator has not yet been found.
