For R$260, six farmers from nearby communities matched 100kg of cold asphalt at a plant in Xanser/South Carolina to cover four major holes on the site. This public operation took place this Friday morning (14).

“The state government needs to do something. Restoring asphalt is not part of our function, so we hope that the government will actually take over its role and make the necessary improvements on the highway,” said Sintraf regional coordinator Eder António Tochetto in an interview with Rádio Belos. FM.

According to members of the Bancada do Oeste at Alesc (State Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina), the motorway situation will be discussed at a public hearing as early as April.

MP Marcos Vieira (PSDB), coordinator of the Court, said that one of the reasons for this action was what happened this weekend in Ceara, on SC-283, when a dozen cars had punctured tires due to a dangerous highway situation.

“But besides the SC-283, which is in a terrible state, we want to deal with other important highways, such as the SC-305, SC-160, SC-350, which are fundamental to our state and which need to be given due attention by the state government,” – explained the deputy.

However, according to the coordinator, there has been a decrease in the pace of work on several routes, and the state is not making payments, as the government is re-evaluating contracts.

“But people from Santa Catarina cannot be subjected to additional punishment, not least because the work is already underway,” Marcos Vieira concluded.
