The father of one of the victims of the attack on the early childhood center Cantinho Bom Pastor in Blumenau told the ND+ portal about his son’s recovery. “It’s hard for him, he’s five years old, and he went through what an adult goes through in the war.”
The boy is one of five injured in the attack, which claimed the lives of four more children. He was wounded in the cheek and neck and will have surgery this Thursday morning (13).
As for the process of rebuilding the family, the father says that they are gradually overcoming it. “Doing it step by step. Everyone is trying to fight this terrorism. Good always triumphs over evil”.
As a result of a wound inflicted to the cheek area, the boy’s jaw was broken. His father explained that on the day of the incident, X-rays and a CT scan were taken, and it was found that a fragment of the lower jaw had been torn out.
“An x-ray was taken this week to see if it would affect the permanent teeth that will still come after the temporary teeth. They will evaluate whether they are going to remove the bone if it does not affect the teeth in any way, or put in a titanium plate and screws to keep the bone in place, and then remove it again after six months, because he is a child and cannot hold the plate.
psychological support
Regarding the mental state of the family after the tragedy, the father said that he, his wife and the boy’s sister are under the supervision of the psychologists of the company they work for, as well as the psychologists of CEI Cantinho Bom Pastor. “We have several specialists who are ready to help us. We are well supported.”
As for the son, the father says that this is a very difficult moment for the child. “That night, thank God, he slept well, but from Monday to Tuesday he woke up and sat on the bed in horror, and since he slept with us, he already hugged and calmed down.”
He also said that he is participating in a joint effort to repair some of the premises in the academic building, and that this is a moment of transformation not only for the place, but also for the people affected by the tragedy.
“Today we are already better when I went to mutirão to help with the reconstruction of the CEI. This is a reconstruction of both the CEI and those who have suffered, mentally and physically,” he concluded.
remember the case
Last Wednesday (5), the Cantinho Bom Pastor crèche in the Velha area was the target of an attack that left four children dead and five injured.
A 25-year-old man jumped over the wall of the institution and took the lives of children by attacking them with an axe. At a press conference, the state government confirmed that the man had four other cases of police detention, including for trying to stab his stepfather with a knife. He surrendered to the police shortly after committing the crime.
ABOUT no data+ will not publish the names of the perpetrator and victims of the attack, as well as explicit images of the crime. The editorial decision was made out of respect for families and the ECA (Children and Adolescents Act), as well as a desire not to pander to the role of criminals.
