Municipal Education Secretary Vítor Meireles in Alto Vale do Itajaí announced that all schools in the municipal educational network have stepped up security measures following the attack on a kindergarten in Blumenau. Classes resumed in the municipality on Thursday (6).
According to the mayor’s office, joint actions will be carried out with the Military Police, Civil Defense, Volunteer Firefighters and directors of municipal and public schools in the city. Classes have been resumed with the following preventive measures, the municipality reports:
- Detours and increased preventive policing;
- Gate with a padlock;
- Blocked entrances, releasing only one entrance controlled by the security team, where if anyone needs to enter, they will only be allowed to consult and wait for help;
- A guide for school principals to be aware of any strange movements on school grounds and if they suspect something, call the military police;
According to the municipality’s education minister, parents or guardians who did not send their children to school the day after the attack, last Thursday (6th), had an excuse for their absence.
The mayor’s office of Vítor Meireles reiterates that rumors of new attacks on schools in Blumenau and the region are not true and encourages families to contact the authorities for information.
