The federal government announces the allocation of 150 million Brazilian reais and the creation of a deep web task force to combat attacks on schools.

Ministers Flavio Dino, Justice and Public Safety, and Camilo Santana, Education, announced federal government measures late Wednesday (5) to bring more safety to schools across the country. The two took part in a meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the Planalto Palace. The agenda arose from the attack on the CEI (Children’s Education Centre) Cantinho Bom Pastor in Blumenau, which killed four children.

Camilo Santana said the government is creating an interministerial working group, that is, with the participation of several ministries, to discuss the national school safety policy. This group has 90 days to submit a report.

Camilo even stressed, along with Health Minister Nicia Trindade, the importance of ensuring the mental health of the school community. “We are going to hold the first meeting of the interdepartmental body tomorrow (Thursday) and will take immediate preventive measures. We are outraged by the unfortunate episode in Blumenau,” said the Minister of Education.

Flavio Dino announced the allocation of 150 million reais from the National Security Fund to states and municipalities to invest in rounds and school patrols. “By doing this, we will strengthen the police work,” the minister assured.

In addition, the Minister of Justice said that a group of 50 police officers will dedicate themselves to investigating the “deep web”, the so-called “deep web”, groups operating on social networks and inciting attacks on educational institutions. According to the minister, ten professionals have already worked in this direction, and after the tragedy in Blumenau, the ministry decided to strengthen it.

“Today we are seeing the spread of hate speech in various areas of society, and it reaches schools. We must act to promote a culture of peace,” the Minister of Justice explained.

Dino says the challenge is big and that not all decisions are made by the federal government as children and teenagers are involved. “If we have metal detectors, police, x-rays in schools, we need to get states, municipalities, private companies and families involved. It cannot be forced. It’s even legally impossible, so you need to take this dispute seriously,” he explained.

ABOUT no data+ will not publish the names of the perpetrator and victims of the attack, as well as explicit images of the crime. The editorial decision was made out of respect for families and the ECA (Children and Adolescents Act) and not to justify the role of criminals.
