With the support of the Arkhangelsk helicopter, in addition to the efforts of firefighters on the ground, it was possible to put out the fire and localize the flame. Given the site’s history, firefighters will still keep a team on standby in the park area with a drone to monitor the site in case the flames reappear.

This Saturday morning (1st) several fires were seen in the Serra do Tabuleiro State Park, between Palos and Santo Amaro da Imperatris in Greater Florianopolis. On Saturday, 11 fire trucks were involved in extinguishing the fire, including four trucks and a tank.

To support the rescuers, a group specializing in extreme situations, FT 10 (Task Force 10) from the San Jose Battalion, was called. A total of 33 military and local firefighters were on site, and an Arkanjo-01 aircraft was called in to map the area.

This Sunday morning (2) firefighting work resumed, and work was focused on the elimination of three fires in the conservation area.

About 25 firefighters worked with six vehicles in the morning, in addition to air support from an Arcanjo-01 helicopter and a surveillance drone. The flame was concentrated away from the houses, and the weakening of the wind had a positive effect on the progress of the work.

The air team also used a resource called the “bumby bucket”, which is a tool that collects water and pours liquid through the air, helping teams on land by eliminating small outbreaks. The aircraft was also used to transport rescuers to areas where land access was difficult.

In addition to the direct work of fighting the flames with water jets, firefighters on land also used dampers to contain the flames. After the fire has been put out, check out how things are in the Serra do Tabuleiro this Sunday morning (2).
