An eight-year-old boy died at the Santo António hospital on Thursday afternoon (30) in Blumenau, in the Itajai valley, following a traffic accident. He succumbed to serious injuries sustained after a violent collision between two cars on a BR-470 last Friday evening (24).

According to firefighters, on the day of the accident, the boy was in the back seat of the car and was rescued unconscious, with a suspected head injury. He was taken to the emergency room of the Santo António hospital in serious condition.

Also in the car were the boy’s parents, a 45-year-old father who will be the driver of the car, and a 46-year-old mother in the passenger seat. According to rescuers, the man had a chest injury, and the woman suspected several broken legs and arms. Both were attached to the car’s hardware and needed to be removed.

According to the PRF (Federal Highway Police), the accident may have been caused by the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident, a Honda Civic. A 28-year-old woman refused a breathalyzer test and was fined. However, she showed no signs of intoxication, according to the PRF.

The woman was supposed to receive abrasions, and the police ordered her to wait for medical attention. However, firefighters reported that she had left the scene.

According to PRF, when the expert opinion on the case is ready and reviewed, it will be sent to the civilian police station in Blumenau. In this case, the responsible delegate must investigate and investigate possible crimes committed at that time.
