The van caught fire and was destroyed in the hinterland of Modelo, in the western part of Santa Catarina, on Tuesday morning (28). The incident happened on the Salete line, around 11:30. One couple had burns on their hands.
When the military fire department arrived at the address, the car was engulfed in flames, as well as a load of recycled products such as plastic, paper and fabrics.
Firefighters used about 1,000,000 liters of water to fight the fire at the Kombi, which was adapted to carry recyclables. He also had to put out the flames that had spread through the surrounding vegetation.
However, according to firefighters, the owners of the Kombi, a 49-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, suffered minor burns to their hands while trying to remove material from the vehicle. The victims were taken to the Modelo hospital for a medical examination.
The wrecked car was left at the scene in the care of the owner’s relatives. What caused the accident is not reported.
