Five people (23) were arrested this Thursday for involvement in murder, drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. The arrests are the result of Operation Betrayal launched by the Garuva police station in the north of Santa Catarina and carried out in São José dos Pinhais (OL), Matinos (OL) and Porto Belo on the north coast of Santa Catarina. The action investigates a criminal organization in the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná. In addition to five arrests, the police confiscated more than 10,000 reais in cash, consignments of drugs and three cars worth more than 400,000 reais.

The investigation that resulted in Thursday’s operation began on February 17, when a body was found with handcuffs and more than 20 shots to the face in the Palmital district of Garuwa.

According to police investigations, the man would not honor an agreement made with one of the individuals responsible for drug trafficking in the region. For this reason, he would be executed by members of a criminal gang.

As a result of the exchange of information between the civil police of Garuva and the civil police of Parana, it was established that the crime was related to the death of a 24-year-old girl in the city of Matinos (PR), which occurred in December last year.

Upon receiving the information, the police launched an investigation into the suspects who worked in the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná. Thus, arrest, search and seizure warrants were executed this Thursday in the cities of Matinos (OL), Porto Belo and São José dos Pinhaes (OL).

In Matinhos (PR), three people were arrested, one of whom was allegedly involved in the murder. The wife of the man involved was also arrested red-handed for drug dealing, along with a shot of crack, a scale, a drug dealing notebook and 6,000 reais in cash. At another address, the perpetrator was arrested at the scene of the crime with approximately 1,300 reais, portions of crack, cocaine and ecstasy.

In Porto Belo, a man with more than 35 passes through the police who left the penitentiary system in December 2022 was arrested for illegal possession of a handgun 380.4500 dollars in cash and three smartphones.

In São José dos Pinhais (PR), the man responsible for the murder in February was arrested, in addition to the confiscation of a pickup truck worth more than 140,000 reais used in the crime.

According to delegate Eduardo Defaveri, the investigation will continue. “Investigations are ongoing to establish the involvement of other members of the criminal organization,” he says.

In addition to the Garuva police station, assistance was provided by the police stations in São José dos Pinhais (PR), Matinos (PR), DENARC in Curitiba (PR), DIC in Joinville, the Porto Belo police station and the use of service dogs. from the Canine Operations Center (NOC).
